It's finally here! The second trimester!! I can't believe how fast it's going by! I'm already 12 weeks! But with a new trimester comes new symptoms...I had my first heart burn today! It wasn't terrible but I felt it. I was in class and all of a sudden I felt like there was food at the top of my throat and there was a pain going down. I asked my friend Stephanie, who has a 14 month old, what heart burn felt like and she described exactly what I felt. I just hope it doesn't get worse than that...I think I can deal with what I had today.
So, I experienced my first Mardi Gras without alcohol!!! I know it's hard to believe haha but it actually wasn't too bad, except dealing with drunk Gabe...haha he can get a little obnoxious. On Saturday I went with my mom and aunt Dinky to Endymion where we met up with my boss and her family who paid Gabe to sleep out on Orleans Ave to save her spot. It was a lot of fun but I definitely over did it...I was so exhausted and felt really sick on Sunday. Then on Monday me, Gabe, my mom, dad, sister Stacey, her husband Josh, aunt Dinky, brother Jason, his girlfriend Samantha, and a few of their friends went to Bourbon Street to celebrate Lundi Gras like we do every year. That was fun too but before Gabe and I left I had to sit down because I had a horrible burning pain on my left side...it scared the living hell out of me!! The pain was right where the baby is...but the good news is I drank some water and when I got home and rested, the pain never came back. I think I might have been dehydrated! All I know is I need to make sure I sit down more and make sure I don't over-do it.
Mardi Gras day I woke up and had a very normal morning, I got ready and Gabe and I headed to my car to go to my moms house and....my day was ruined. My brand new mommy car was wrecked!!! Someone, I have no idea who, probably some drunk idiot, hit the front driver side panel. My bumper has a tire mark on it and the side panel is dented in and the paint is coming off. It looks like a pick-up truck was backing out of a drive way and went a bit too far! It's not horrible but it's still gunna cost money. And today I was driving to school and I saw this black peice of my car flapping in the wind...connecting the bumper to the panel was a black rubber or plastic peice that got broken and now it can't stay on my car. So to add to the whole mess I now have to DUCT TAPE the peice to my car...I mean who would have thought a brand new car would have to be duct taped together. Ugh I haven't even paid a car note on it yet! And it doesn't have a license plate yet either! Just my luck!
Anyways, back to my actual pregnancy. My acne is still the same and my back pain is getting worse. I really hope this pain lets up because I won't be able to walk soon! I'm gunna be on bed rest at like 20 weeks! Haha ugh I really hope not!! And here's what everyone has been waiting for....the update on the baby's development and my 12 week belly pic!
Baby-Ocampo's Update: Even though your little Einstein’s body is still growing quite rapidly 3 inches long right now, the overall super-speedy growth of their amazing brain continues to leave the head proportionately larger than the body— and is actually slightly more than one third of their total body mass! The head and neck are still straightening at this point as can be seen by their little chin lifting off of the chest. Your baby is also actively rehearsing “breathing” by using amniotic fluid to prepare the lungs for future air respiration.
The big news: your little pooper is now officially going to need diapers! Although a majority of the waste produced is transferred to the mother’s system for discharge (to avoid having it linger in the amniotic sac), some urine is released to the amniotic fluid and your baby will actually breathe it in before it passing it on to your for discharge. Not to worry, urine--in this particular form, is completely harmless to your baby.
Mommy's Update: By now, your once-flat and relatively small uterus is stretched to the size of a softball (12-14 cm), but that’s nothing: by the time you deliver it will have grown to 15 – 17 inches (37 – 42 cm). Your uterus is slowly increasing at a rate of approximately one centimeter per week. If you've got a burning sensation that extends from your breastbone to your throat, you've got heart burn or acid indigestion. To lessen this unpleasant experience: eat smaller meals and avoid fried, spicy, and fatty foods. Otherwise, there's always TUMS, but check with your healthcare provider first.
